Stefano Ghisolfi is one of the most repeated names of the 2021 climbing season. Although he was not one of the three Italian Olympians, he is reaping success wherever he can this year. And it is not the first time that the name Ghisolfi has caused an international uproar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racing career<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stefano started his climbing career at the age of fourteen, participating in the 2007 Junior World Championships. His first breakthrough came three years later, twice in a row. At that time, he was on the bronze post at the Junior World Championships (Group A) and bronze at the Junior World Championships. After this performance, however, it took a very long time before he again stood on the podium of the World Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it happened again repeatedly, in 2017 and 2018, when he improved on his former childhood performance and became a silver medalist at the World Championship in Difficulty Climbing. But his best performance came this year, when he finally won the difficulty climb and completed his trifecta of medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor exits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But Ghisolfi is not a competitive sport climber. Rather than To Adam Ondra<\/a> (which successfully combines these two disciplines) is more similar To Alex Megos<\/a>. It competes, but only dominates on the rocks. It is beautiful to see when we look at his outputs.
Ghisolfi is one of only four climbers who have conquered the difficulty of 9b+ and for a while it seemed that he was also one of the three who managed the notorious 9c. But everything gradually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefano Ghisolfi is a good boulderer (he won Melloblocco 3 times), although he doesn't do much bouldering. Ghisolfi has recorded two outdoor ascents of boulders rated as 8b+ (V14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, his preferred discipline is rope climbing. Its current onsight<\/a> the difficulty is 8c (XI-), which only underlines the claim that he is a really good climber. The second highlight comes from having Chris Sharma route climbs (certain quality assurance and climbing fire pass). These are La Rambla and Realization, both rated 9a+ (XI+).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But now we come to the point why all visitors are probably here, namely Stefan's ascents rated 9b and above. Defeated Perfecto Mundo (Alex Megos<\/a>) and Change (Adam Ondra<\/a>), which are considered notorious routes (Change is the first route rated 9b+). His crown jewel, however, came with the Bibliographie journey. When he became the third climber to seriously attempt this difficulty. So it didn't shock anyone when he also managed to climb it. However, the shock was the fact that the route Megos marked as 9c was subsequently taken down and declared as 9b+ (which Alex himself later acceded to).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, it is also appropriate to add that this year (2021) he bolted and opened the route 9b\/+ (XI-\/XII) Erebor, which was immediately repeated by the legend of women's climbing - Laura Rogora<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
