There are plenty of climbing areas in Prague that are worth exploring, climbing and surrounding. So there's the classic question of what's worth it and what's not? We also have the experience of hundreds of climbers, which we can look back on and evaluate our local rocks. Unfortunately, this article will only deal with climbing in Prague. But don't worry, it will soon continue with a full series, so it will reach every region! So what exactly is the "best climbing in Prague?" <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you probably already know, if you are from the area, we have a handful of areas in Prague that are simply better than others. It is not that difficult to figure out which ones they are, since we all know them well. Of course, you can disagree with us on our choice (that is also possible). This list is our favorite crags and climbing sectors. It is possible that they will be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hlubo\u010depsk\u00e9 plates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Plotny in Hlubo\u010depy<\/a> are a large, "surprisingly" hot plate sector in Prague. You will find a total of 63 routes spread over 4 sectors (3 rocks). Left plate<\/a>, Small hot plate<\/a> and \u017dvahov<\/a> they are very well secured, with paths of all difficulties. Unfortunately, the right plate lags behind a bit, but that can also be solved.
Why is this one of the best areas of Prague? In a very small place, fans of plates here, blade<\/a> and microsteps really come in handy! From a top-rope option to a beautiful and difficult climb on the first one, there is just about everything here. Access to the sectors is also very easy, with good parking and connections to public transport. So there is nothing to fear.
The hidden bonus of the plates is that quite heavy boulder lines have also started to be born here. So you can boldly come here for the whole climbing weekend and combine leisurely sport climbing with bouldering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Branice rocks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Branick\u00e9 sk\u00e1ly climbing area is one of the largest and most diverse climbing areas in Prague. You will find dozens of routes in several sectors in one main rock massif. But it's not just about the stoves. Yes, you will find a lot of light plates here. At the same time, there are also pleasant vertical paths and difficult, strength-demanding overhangs. Almost every type of climber can fit here, from beginners to advanced seasoned athletes.
Not only can you climb well here, but you can also improve your more advanced climbing techniques and rope handling relatively well here. As a large number of paths are longer than 30 meters, standard 50m rope<\/a> it is not enough and they have to climb more-length or subsequently belay from the first position. So if you are attracted to a slightly different style of climbing than just 15-20 meter routes, this is the place to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rust<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rust<\/a> it's not technically "Prague" anymore, but we still include it there. If you don't know why, just look at the map and the ease of connections. It is not much more difficult to get to Hlubo\u010dep than to \u0158e\u017e. \u0158e\u017e is a climbing paradise in Prague. The combination of sport and traditional climbing is really excellent here. There are dozens of ways to do both. Sports shoes are amazingly unlocked to the standards of internal walls, so even completely new climbers will have a blast here. To make matters worse, there are also a few boulders, so you can climb here with a bouldering mat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will find a total of 5 massifs + others (better named rocks). I. to IV. Massiv are traditional, V. Massive<\/a> and Barunka are for sport climbing. We can only recommend this climbing area. It is especially beautiful here if you want to take a climbing trip "outside of Prague" and project heavy sports bikes or climb on your own something other than Divok\u00e1 \u0160\u00e1rka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prokop valley<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Digger<\/a> (Prokopsk\u00e9 \u00fadol\u00ed) is one of the most popular areas for rock climbing in Prague. The dominant feature of the valley \u2013 Borov\u00e1 sk\u00e1la \u2013 is the best maintained sector in the city and the surrounding area. Around 50 really well secured paths and a handful of boulders await you here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main attraction of the Prokop Valley is Pine rock<\/a>, which is taken care of by Reinhard Streif. Borovka is the place where many people first encountered outdoor climbing and where many enthusiasts of our sport were born. Prokop\u00e1k is in a very practical location, a short distance from metro B and a few kilometers walk from Hlubo\u010dep. Definitely a place worth going to!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
